장생포 아트스테이 레지던시 결과보고작 [페어리 더스트]는 장생포 마을 커뮤니티를 위한 모뉴먼트(monument) 작업입니다.
어떠한 스탠스나 사회적 존재감이 흩어진 채, 기억 그 자체가 되어 남겨진 마을 장생포. 사라지는 것들을 마음속에 붙들어 놓기 위해 남겨진 마을의 조각들을 기록합니다.
장생포의 ‘그리움과 기억’을 동화 [피터 팬]의 ‘fairy dust(요정 가루)’에 대입하여 표현하였습니다. ‘네버랜드’로 떠날 수 있게 해주는 요정 가루가 뿌려진 순간 그 자체를 포착한 상태로 굳혀, 마을의 기억을 기념비화 합니다.
흔히 유동적이고 소모적으로 인식되는 섬유를 젤 왁스에 굳혀 휘발되는 기억을 붙잡아 보존함을 은유적으로 표현하였습니다.
해당 작업의 문구는 장생포에 전해지는 고래잡이 민요와 풍어제 무가를 차용하였습니다.

Artwork [Fairy Dust] is a monumental work and a result of Artist Residency Program of Art-stay Ulsan.
The village named Jang-Saeng Po remains as the memory itself, without any social stances and existence. This work tries to record the fragments of the village, remaining to hold the vanishing things.
'Fairy Dust' is a metaphor of 'longing and memory' of Jang-Saeng Po. The memory becomes a monument that reminds good old days by capturing the very moment when the fairy dust has been sprinkled.
The vanishing memories are replaced to fabric parts in this work, captured in the gel wax that will prevent it from going away.
This work borrowed the lyrics of a whale-hunting folk song and ritual song, transmitted among Jang-Saeng Po residents.
